Sunday Enquirer Subscription for $20!!

It's been awhile since I shared this ....  It's such a great deal that I thought that it's worth sharing again.

Coupon inserts in the Sunday paper are the probably the most well known coupon source. Getting them though can mean having to pay for the paper.  I used to go out every Sunday morning to buy a paper ... okay really I used to try to remember to go out every Sunday morning to buy a paper.  More often than not I forgot though.  Finally I decided to start having the paper delivered instead. Until I discovered this great piece of information, I was paying $19 every 11 weeks for the paper.

Now .... I pay just $20 a year.  You can too if you live in the Greater Cincinnati area.  Here's how ....  Go here to subscribe to the Bethel Journal. The Bethel Journal is a community paper that will be mailed to you weekly on Thursday's.  It costs $18 a year if you live in Clermont County or $20 a year if not. So why do you want the Bethel Journal if is don't live in or near Bethel?  An annual subscription to the Bethel Journal includes the delivery of the Sunday Enquirer at no extra charge! I know several people who have several subscriptions to get several sets of coupons.

Update:  FYI .... I have gotten emails with the same question from several people so I wanted to add the answer here.  You won't be asked to pay for the Bethel Journal Subscription online.  A bill will be sent to you a few weeks after you subscribe and once a year after that.

The Q Hunter Forum PLUS a Discount Code

The Q Hunter is my go to place to obtain extra coupons when I want extra coupons to add to my stockpile.  Learn more about that here.

I'm excited to share something brand new.  The Q Hunter Forum was launched very recently!  I hope I can speak for Cindy (The Q Hunter herself) in saying that the hopes for the forum are for it to be a place for anyone to share deals, ask questions and connect with other "successfully frugal" people. I am honored to be one of the few bloggers listed so far (I'm sure there will be more to come!) in the forum's "Meet the Bloggers" section.

In honor of The Q Hunter Forum's launch, you can save 20% now through Wednesday, April 21st on your total Q Hunter purchase using code "TQHForum."  I love saving on something that helps me save even more! Thanks Cindy!!

What is a Catalina??

I received 3 almost identical emails in the last week. All 3 asked in some form or another "What is a Catalina?"  I bet others might be wondering also.

Catalinas (aka Cats) are the coupons that print at the register with your grocery receipt.  They get their name from the company, Catalina, who manufacturers the printers.  Catalinas are generated based on something you've purchased. The cats you get may be one of 3 things.

First is a coupon for a dollar amount on your next order (OYNO.) They are like cash off your next purchase.  They may have restrictions like $1.00 off your next deli purchase or $2.00 off your next frozen food purchase.  The best kind though are a dollar amount off you next purchase of anything.  With or without restrictions, these are store coupons and only good at any location of the store where they printed.
Second is a coupon for an amount off a specific item .... much like the coupons in the newspaper. These are often for a competitor brand of something you bought. They may have the logo of the store where they printed. If they say "Manufacturer's Coupon" then they can be used at any store that accepts coupons. Some cashiers may question them though if you use them at a store other than where they printed.
Photo From Mommy Snacks
Third is an advertisement for an upcoming catalina offer.  These will tell you that during a specific date range if you buy 1 of product A get $ off next purchase: Buy 2, Get $$ off or Buy 3 Get $$$ for example.
As far as knowing what cats to expect and when to expect them .... There's no always or never answer. Of course you would know about an upcoming catalina if you get one of the upcoming advertisements. I try to post about one's that I get .... so send me info about any you get.  In some cases there will be a shelf tag advertising the catalina and/or it will be in the store ad.  Mommy Snacks updates pages for current catalina deals at both Kroger and Meijer. Some catalinas are offered at both stores but sometimes it's just one or the other. Oh of course other stores near you may have catalinas too. Kroger and Meijer are the main stores in my area.

Meijer also offers their own version of a catalina.  These are sponsored by Meijer instead of the manufacturer.  They call them Custom Coupons.  They print the same way catalinas do.  Watch the back of Meijer's ad for a list of these.  They're there sometimes and sometimes not.

Getting a catalina can just be a surprise too... nice surprise of course!

When expecting a catalina I always go to a cashier instead of a self check out.   Especially at my local Meijer but sometimes at Kroger too, often the catalina machines are either out of paper or just not working.  When you do use a self checkout, watch for catalinas left behind by other customers.  I once found a $2.00 OYNO hanging from the printer.

Sometimes store employees are aware of catalina offers (like the one's in the store ad or that have shelf tags) but sometimes they may know nothing about it.  If you don't get an expected catalina, Customer Service will take care of you if it is a catalina they know about.  Call Catalina at 1-888-826-8766 if the store is unaware of a catalina deal that failed to print.  They are very helpful and in most cases will send catalina to you by mail.

Let me know if I missed something here.  And send me info about any upcoming catalina offers you get so I can pass it on!

The Q Hunter Plus a 25% off Code

Have you used a coupon clipping service before?  Did you know that kind of service existed?
Find a Discount Code for Saving Bits and Pieces Readers Below

I've mentioned The Q Hunter a few times before but wanted to tell you more about the service.  I heard about The Q Hunter from my aunt not too long ago.  In the past my source for ordering coupons was ebay.  I'm happy to have added The Q Hunter as the source I go to first now.

Sounds like The Q Hunter uses stockpiling to save like I do.  Her hard work of cutting and sorting coupons weekly allows customers to buy multiples of coupons to be combined with great sales to save by stockpiling.  The Q Hunter sold coupons on ebay first.  Because of ebay fees and her desire to offer coupons at the lowest possible price she moved her service to her own website.  Fewer fees for her means lower prices for us!

The Q Hunter's Storefront is very easy to navigate.  Coupons can be found in various ways using the list on the right side of the storefront labeled "Insert Date."  "Hot Coupons" are those that The Q Hunter knows will match well with upcoming sales.  Search by insert date to find coupons that came out the same dates.  The way I usually search is with the search window on the right side of the page.  I enter key words like toilet paper or peanut butter ... or brand names like Angel Soft or Skippy to find the coupons I want to order.  There are also whole inserts available for purchase.

Some coupon listings may say that they will not be available until Tuesday.  That is because in addition to local inserts (Cincinnati area) The Q Hunter also gets inserts from out of town and they take longer to get to her.

The coupons are priced per coupon.  The price varies based on the value of the coupon but most I've seen have been priced around $.08 to $.30 per coupon.  The listings show how many of a particular coupon are available.  Enter the number you want to order. Remember The Q Hunter is a smaller coupon clipping service.  Some coupons may have limits to the number you may purchase.  Please don't order more than 30 of any one coupon without emailing Cindy (The Q Hunter) first.  I know of an instance when The Q Hunter helped my aunt with a large number of coupons to help her use coupons to purchase many items for Christmas donation baskets.

A minimum of $1.00 is required per order.  Shipping charges are determined by the amount of your order.  First Class Shipping is $1.00 for orders totaling from $1.00 to $2.99, $.44 for orders totaling $3.00 to $4.99 and FREE for orders over $5.00.  There is a 9am cutoff for shipping.  Coupons ordered before 9am will go out that same day.  I order on Sunday's and have had my coupons by Tuesday every time.

I ordered coupons for Nature Valley Granola Bars (see deal senario here) and Barilla Pasta last night.  I'll be adding both to my stockpile!

So now for the Discount code I mentioned above.  From now through Friday March 12th the first 50 Saving Bits and Pieces readers using code SBPMarch7 will save 25% on their order of $2.00 - $100.00.  Yep that's right you can save on coupons that will help you save even more!!   So set up your account, get your coupons ordered and save as you add to your stockpile!!

Cellfire Coupons

Have you heard of Cellfire?  Are you using it?  I'm guilty of forgetting about this great coupon source.  Cellfire offers access to coupons that can be loaded onto your store's shopper card ... that would be the Kroger Plus card in my area. (See a list of other participating stores at the bottom of this post.)  First set up an account and add your Shopper Card number.  Then simply search the website for available coupons and click to add coupons to your card.  The next time you purchase an item that corresponds with a Cellfire coupon on your card the savings come off automatically.  No need to alert the cashier or anything.  That's all there is to it!

I mentioned that I forget about Cellfire.  Not anymore.  My problem was remembering what coupons I had on my card and searching for new coupons as they become available.  I just learned that I can print a list of the coupons currently on my card.  (It's really very simple. Not sure how I missed it!)  No more excuses that I don't know what's on my card!  That list will go right in the front of my coupon binder.

I know I'm only scratching the surface with ways to save using Cellfire.  A Cellfire App can be added to your cell phone to find deals away from your computer (hence the name Cellfire.)  Do you know something I don't about Cellfire?  Probably ... Teach me please!  Leave a comment so we can all learn more.

Cellfire isn't the only site to load coupons onto your store card.  I'll post about the others in the next few days.

All You $.67 / Issue Lots of Coupons!

ENDED!  Watch for this again though maybe?

I haven't told you about any other coupon sources lately so I'm excited to do so now!

All You is a magazine I enjoy reading PLUS it's full of coupons!
I really like that there is an index in the back of the magazine listing each and every coupon in the issue plus the page numbers where the coupon can be found. My last subscription ran out a few months ago.  I'm really missing it so this is the perfect time to start it up again!

All You issues can be purchased for around $2.40 per issue.  I get to offer you a savings of about $1.73 per issue!!  Yep that's right you can get 40 issues ... one per month ... of All You delivered right to you at home for just $.67 per issue ... or $27 total.  The All You coupons will save you so much more than the cost of the subscription.

This All You promotion is being offered by Campus Fundraisers however this isn't a fundraiser at all ... instead the funds from this purchase that would usually be raised are being refunded back to you.  The 40 issue subscription sells for $40.  Campus Fundraisers will then credit your method of payment back $13 for a total purchase price of $27.

Here's how:
Go Here to Order All You to before Feb 13th
Click on the Support Our Group Link
Order 40 Issues of All You for $40
Watch for your $13 credit back to your original payment method
Start saving with all the great All You coupons!!
Your first issue may take 10-12 weeks to get to you.

Other info to note:

See another magazine that interests you?  The $13 credit offer applies to any magazine with a subscription price of $40 or more.

I've been told that the $13 credit will be processed within 24 hours of your order but NOTE that with my previous life banking experience (I was a branch manager for 9 yrs) I know that it may take a 2-5 days for the credit to actually be processed by the bank.

If you choose to pay by check you only need to write it for $27 and of course won't receive the $13 credit.

Already have an All You Subscription but want to take advantage of this offer?  Go ahead as I outlined above and make sure that all the info (name, address etc.) is exactly the same as your current subscription.  The 40 issues will be added on to you current subscription.

Get Your Scissors Ready!!

We've had a few weeks off with newspapers without coupon inserts (except for the P&G insert last weekend) but this week that's going to change.  I hear that Sunday's paper will have 4 coupon inserts!!  I'm super excited!  My coupon supply needs a boost! There will be 2 Red Plum and 2 Smart Source inserts.

I have found it helpful to have a coupon insert schedule.  This way you won't buy a paper on the week's there aren't any coupons AND will know when to buy extra papers when there are lots of inserts.

That reminds me ... I posted here about getting the Sunday Cincinnati Enquirer for only $20 a year but I think it's definitely worth mentioning again.

If you live in the Greater Cincinnati go here to subscribe to the Bethel Journal. Bethel is on the East side of Cincinnati and you can get their community paper mailed to you weekly on Thursday's for $18 a year if you live in Clermont County or $20 a year if you live in another local county. An annual subscription to the Bethel Journal includes the delivery of the Sunday Enquirer at no extra charge! I know several people who have several subscriptions to get several sets of coupons.

Red Plum Mailer & Possible $20 in FREE Groceries

What do you do with the Red Plum mailers like this one when they come? Do you look through them or just throw them out like I used to do?

Did you know that sometimes there are manufacturer's coupons in them?  This one that came in my mail today has a Kroger insert.

It has manufacturer's coupons for:
  • $2.00 off any Sundown Naturals Product
  • $2.00 off any Disney Vitamin Product
  • $2.00 off any Ester C Product
  • $1.00 off any one box of Tazo Filterbag Tea or Tea Latte Concentrate
  • $1.00 off any Slim Fast Product
  • $.55 off any 18.5 oz single bottle of Fuze  *Yum!*
  • $.55 off 2 bottles of Glaceau Products
  • Buy 3 bottles of Powerade Ion4 or Powerade Zero get one FREE
  • $2.00 off any Nature's Bounty Vitamin/Supplement Product
And one of my favorite money making store coupons.... Get $20.00 in FREE Groceries when you transfer a prescription to Kroger.

It works like this....transfer a prescription from any where else to Kroger, take the coupon when you pick the prescription up and they will add the $20 credit to your Kroger Plus card.  It will be there the next time you shop... and if you're like me that will probably be on the same trip to pick up the prescription.  If there is a prescription you have filled somewhere besides Kroger transfer it and save on groceries too!!

Kroger isn't the only store that offers prescription coupons like this.  Watch ads for stores like Target, CVS, Walgreens and others too.  Sometimes they are good only on prescription transfers and sometimes they are good for new prescriptions too.

Ways to Save When Eating Gluten Free

I have a cousin who is getting ready to start her last semester of school and looking ahead to moving out on her own. We talked at a family Christmas gathering about couponing, grocery shopping and stockpiling  She mentioned a little about grocery shopping for the kinds of foods she can eat since she has Celiac Disease. I don't know very much about the restrictions on her diet but told her I would see what I could find in the way of coupons and savings for her.

Two sites that offer lots of information about living gluten free are:

There are recipes, product information, articles and tips.  Sign up for a newsletter at each site to get coupons on gluten free products.

I know there are many people who eat gluten free diets so I wanted to share these sites.  I also wondered what other sites are out there that may offer coupons and saving ideas.  Leave a comment if you know of any and I'll update the list started here.

I love that my cousin is so excited about learning ways to save money on food and household items now before she moves out.  I can't imagine how much I could have saved had I known what I know now when I first moved out on my own.  It's never too early or late to start saving!
