I have news that I'm excited to share with you! Brianne at Just Trying to Save Money, Tosha at Savings Makes Cents and I have teamed up to organize and run a Back to School Supply Drive for Fairfield City School District - the local school district where all of our kids go to school. We're very thankful for the help and direction we're getting from Becky at Nickels and Dimes. She ran a very successful school supply drive for her district last year and I believe is doing so again this year too.
Back to School costs ... supplies, clothes, school fees ... add up. In today's economic world there are more and more families in need of help. I'm very honored to be involved in something to provide help for those in need. Education is so important. And starting off a new school year the right way can make all the difference.
The Back to School Drive will take place during and after Fairfield School's annual Back to School Parade. The parade is a fun way to get students excited about returning to school for a new year. It will take place on August 21st at 9:30 am. The parade starts on Hicks Blvd, goes to Nilles Road and then ends at the Intermediate Building behind the stadium on Route 4. We will be collecting donations along the parade route and afterward at the Intermediate Building until 5 pm. Any donation ... big or small ... will help! School supplies, cash, checks or your time to help with the drive is needed. Yes we are in need of volunteers to help out. We'll be collecting as well as sorting and dividing up the supplies for each of the district's school. Use this form to sign up to help. You'll be contacted in early August.
Why are we telling you about this now when summer break hasn't even started yet? Sooner than you think stores will start running sales (Great Sales) on school supplies. Brianne, Tosha and I will be highlighting those sales so you can save on the supplies needed for your own kids plus be able to save as you help out others in need. So start watching now. Let me know if you see a deal. I will share it here too.
