High Five Monthly Recap

Another Month has gone by .... It's hours away from the 1st day of March.  That means weeks away from the first day of Spring!!

I track my grocery spending and savings.  Do you?  I use a very easy ... already designed ... spreadsheet.  Andrea at Mommy Snacks made her Grocery Savings Chart available to her readers and I have used it ever since! (Thanks Andrea!!) Sometimes the results give me a great sense of accomplishment while of course other times they're an eye opener that I need to try a little harder.

Last year I saved just under 53% on my grocery purchases.  I think I can do better this year and have set a 2010 goal of 64% savings.  My numbers are just that .... my numbers.  Set a goal for yourself.  Is it a dollar amount you want to be under each week or month?  Is it a percentage?  Set a goal that is realistic ... and challenge yourself to lower it a little more once you're meeting it consistently.

I have $80 a week budgeted for groceries so that's $320 a month.

My grocery trip totals for February
I brought home groceries valued at $999.35.
I spent $302.30.
I saved $697.05 or 70%

And for the year so far...
I brought home groceries valued at $2028.35.
I spent $585.30.
I saved $1443.05 or 71%

February Stockpile Additions of Note
I won't need to buy these things for awhile at least ... I hope!

How did you do?  What did you stock up on?  Leave comments with your stories for the month.  Have a blog .... link up your month end posts.  Let's give "High Fives!" and learn from each other!
