The Buy Ahead Principle

I refer to stockpiling all the time. I think it's the number one best way to save on groceries and household items. My savings journey began with Money Saving Mom being the first blog I ever read. This month she is doing a great series called "31 Days to a Better Grocery Budget." Today's post is called "The Buy Ahead Principle" ... aka stockpiling. Carrie at Money Saving Methods shared a deal on Purex Laundry Detergent this week at Kroger.  It is a possible money maker and at the very worst get 2 bottles for $.19 each.  That's the kind of worst case senario I like!

Kroger has the Daytona 500 Promotion going on this week.  And possibly next week too?  Who knows but the sales like this typically run for 2 weeks.  Buy any 10 participating items and get $3.00 off instantly .... or $.30 off per item.

Purex Laundry Detergent, 50oz, is a participating item.  It is regularly priced at $3.49 per bottle.
It's on sale for $2.49 this week.  Plus there is a catalina promotion on Purex too!

Here's how the deal will work:

Don't have any coupons?  Even without them in the above senario the detergent comes to only $.19 per bottle.  That's a great stock up price!!!

I just checked online coupon sites.  The Q Hunter and Trader World Online are out of Purex coupons but they do restock often.  There are plenty available on ebay.  The Buy It Now listings I saw were priced at $6.99 for 20 coupons ... that's just $.35 per coupon.  Order them now if interested in doing so.  Getting them by Sunday could be a bit risky so hopefully it will be a 2 week sale.
