Summer time means fresh vegetables from the garden. Our garden hasn't done very well this year. Although I am pleased and excited that our tomatoes are starting to turn red. There's nothing like the taste of a fresh homegrown tomato!
Saturday morning I got a call from a grade school friend whose dad has a farm. His sweet corn was ripening faster than planned because of the heat we've been having. She asked if we wanted to come get some. Ummm ... Yes of course! When we arrived her dad took a bucket right into the corn field and came back out with 38 ears for us.
We set 10 aside to grill this week and put the boys to work shucking the rest. We blanched it and cut it off the cob and now have 10 2 cup bags in the freezer.
Thanks Mr Groh!!!
