$35 Jiffy Lube Gift Card Giveaway

Did you know that the average age of cars on the road is 9.4 years?  That's a record high!  I fit right into that average.  My van is 10 years old and with no car payment, I have no plans to replace it any time soon.  That's why taking care of our cars is even more important than ever.  Good maintenance means less repairs ... another way to save money!

An informative website www.MotorOilMatters.org has easy to locate information about motor oil and how quality products help prolong engine life and efficiency.  The site has a "M.O.M. Know Best" Game where you can put your motor mind to the test.

Did you know?
  • According to a recent survey from the Automotive Service Association, more than 54 percent of customers who take their vehicles for service and repair are women
  • Using a high-quality motor oil in the right grade can help maximize fuel economy
  • Low-quality oils that do not meet industry standards or the vehicle manufacturer’s requirements could cost consumers in the long run by potentially damaging the vehicle’s engine or possibly voiding the manufacturer’s warranty
  • Another reason to look to a high-quality motor oil – like Pennzoil and Quaker State - is that it is designed to meet the demands of today’s engines

This information comes from Shell Lubricants and www.MotorOilMatters.org.  Through My Blogspark, Shell Lubricants and www.MotorOilMatters.org  has sent me a $35 Gift Card to Jiffy Lube.  This will cover (or almost cover) the cost of my next oil change at Jiffy Lube.  I'm excited to share that they also offered to giveaway a $35 Jiffy Lube Gift Card to one of you!!  Now that's a giveaway that would be good for anyone (unless you don't have a car of course.)

There are 4 ways to win.  The first is mandatory while the others will get you extra entries.  All entries must be left in the form of a comment here on the blog (not on Facebook or elsewhere.)  Leave one comment for each entry. The giveaway will end on Friday July 2nd.  The winner will be announced on Saturday July 3rd.  If you're commenting anonymously, please leave your email address so I can contact you if you win.

Stop and go driving is considered severe driving...hmm...seems like I do that a lot while in traffic. Makes me wonder if I should check my manual to see if I need to change my oil more often!

I found out that each car has a different interval between oil changes---each model/type is different! We just scheduled ours at the same time. Oops!

For every vehicle, always make sure the oil meets the manufacturer’s requirements as listed in the owner’s manual.

I found it interesting that the API Service Symbol (“Donut”) and API Certification Mark (“Starburst”) identifies quality engine oils for many gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles.

I learned that Severe Driving includes stop-and-go driving, frequent high-speed driving and short trips. We do a lot of short trips and I didn't know how much strain it is putting on the car.

I found the info on additives interesting (Additives can consist of anti-wear agents, friction modifiers, dispersants, detergents, viscosity index improvers and antioxidants). Interesting, huh?
