Trying to Catch Up ....

I'm back! We just got back from a fabulous, busy and relaxing weekend in Chicago without any kids!!  I know ... you may not have even known that I was gone. My hubby felt safer if it wasn't posted on the internet that we were going to be gone for the weekend.

It was my first trip to Chicago.  I have to say that I was pretty overwhelmed when we first got there on Friday.  I don't think of myself as a small town girl.  But the hustle and bustle of the city, traffic, skyscrapers etc was more than I'm used to.  Pretty much as soon as we parked the car for the weekend I felt calmer though.  Did I mention the traffic?  Glad I wasn't driving!  We stayed downtown and walked everywhere we went.  All the walking was a good thing too because we ate lots of really good (not so healthy I'm sure) food.

I was truly amazed as we neared on end of Michigan Ave and I saw a beach .... right there at the end of such a busy city street.  I had no idea that within such a giant city there could be a beach.  And the parks right in the middle of the city too!  We got to see lots of the parks while riding Segways!!  IT WAS SO FUN!!  We took a Segway tour on Sunday morning.  If you ever get the chance to ride a one ... Do It!  Tim is still talking about the pure excitement he saw on my face when we got to some open space around Buckingham Fountain where I could cruise around.

Now back to reality.  Home again to the boys we missed ... one who is sick on the couch.  I had no idea that I'd feel so far behind after just 3 days away.  I took my laptop with me but didn't interrupt the alone time with Tim to use it.  (Plus there was a $14/day charge for internet at our hotel.)  I'm hoping (wish me luck, motivation and productivity) to have the Kroger, Meijer and Jungle Jim's Deals up by the time I go to bed tonight.  Oh and I have an exciting project to share with you too!

Sounds like lots of fun! I've done the Segways before and I totally agree: they are awesome. Good luck playing catch up!
